Kogi to Partner NDE On Job Creation

Kogi State Governor Captain Idris Wada says his administration will partner with the National Directorate of Employment to create jobs for the youths in the state.

The governor said this when the NDE state coordinator, Malam Abudlkari Oba Saadu, led management staff on a courtesy visit to the government house.

He said unemployment was one of the major causes of anti-social and criminal tendencies among youths, adding that government was collaborating with NDE which has over 25 years experience in the area of job creation.

Earlier, the cordinator said they were at the governor’s office to present a proposal for creating 5,000 jobs to the government.

He outlined the methodologies developed by the NDE to create the 5,000 jobs, including skills acquisition, enterprise creation, special public/labour based approach programme, rural employment promotion, training of women and provision of resettlement equipment/loan to graduate trainees.

Kidnapped Igbinedion University students released

 

The four final year medical students of Igbinedion University, Okada, who were kidnapped along the Okada-Benin road after an armed robbery incident on Thursday June 7th were this morning released by their abductors. The students pictured above after their release.We thank God!

Was he wrong to go ahead with his wedding?

Maimuna Anyene died with her four children (Kamsi, 2, twins Kayna and Kayne 1, and Kamal, 7 months), her husband, mother and other relatives in last Sunday's Dana crash, while heading to Lagos to attend her younger brother's wedding, which was scheduled to hold yesterday June 9th. Maimuna lived in the US, and was in Nigeria with her kids specifically to see her husband who lived mostly in Nigeria and to attend her brother's wedding. But they all died in the ill fated flight.

Ndako Mijindadi, Maimuna's younger brother went ahead with his wedding despite losing Maimuna and eight other family members in that crash. The wedding held yesterday at the Incubator, Victoria Island.

Ndako is now being heavily criticized for going ahead with the wedding, especially considering the dead are yet to be buried. Was he wrong to go ahead with it?

Give us a brief introduction on who Annie Macaulay is?
I am a very simply person, an actress, a business woman, a mother, and a wife.

What made you want to become an actress? Childhood dream or career choice?
Childhood dream. I also studied it in school. It’s something I really love and I am happy that God has put me in a place where I can actually live that dream.

How challenging has it been for you to stay in the movie industry?
It has not been easy, but God’s grace and favour is awesome.

Aside from acting do you have any other business you are into?
Yup! I do.

Your life is in the public eye, what negative and positive effects has it had on you?
Negative: People are always in your business. Say what they like, true, or false … mostly false.
Positive: I get a lot of favours, a lot of doors are easily opened. It is my life and I am gonna live it to the fullest either way.

Let’s get a little bit personal. How did you feel when your hubby proposed? Did you know or have this feeling that something was up?
Awesome! You would feel the same if the man of your dreams gets on his knees and asks you to marry him …*smiles*.

We refuse to let Arik Air fly with one engine - Singer Jadhiel

Stranger than fiction. But this news went viral via BlackBerries this morning:

This jst happened to Jahdiel, Nigerian Gospel artiste, few minutes ago..a wk after Dana Crash..wetin dey do naija airlines nah?

Imagine. I boarded an arik plane today for a program in ph, the plane was on for a while and we were all sweating profusely cos the ac was not on. I summoned a staff who attends my church asked him why..he said the second engine wasn’t working and dat the ac doesn’t work unless we take off. On hearing this we all disembarked the plane. Can u imagine they were trying to use a generator to start the engine. If arik planes can be faulty then no plane is safe to fly in nigeria.

Attempts to speak with the singer have not been successful as her phone is off, but her friend and fellow artiste, Nikki Laoye, confirmed the event. Repeated calls to the Arik Air spokesperson have not yet been returned.

UPDATE: We have contacted the singer via and she sent us this message:

After my refusal of flying with the flight today with arik air to ph flight no W3 519 with one engine, a new plane was provided for us..we could even smell the “newness” pardon my english..we were all calm and at ease. My fellow nigerians,the word “manage” is not our heritage. We deserve the best we will always get when we speak out with one voice. One people,great nation.
