Nollywood actor, James Ikechukwu Asomogha better known as Jim Iyke has landed into a fresh trouble. The star actor, who was gradually getting himself cleared from an alleged 15 million mess with Habiba Abubakar, is about to be dragged into another set of muddy water.

Some 'unscrupulous' fellows have found joy in carrying out some fraudulent activities with the actor's hard earned name. These individuals now go about with the intent of defrauding unsuspecting fans of Jim Iyke on twitter with some frivolous 'business' proposals claiming to be the real Jim Iyke.

Jim Iyke alerted the public recently when he stated, "Please beware of a [Twitter] handle named 'JIM IYKE' making the rounds and offering all kinds of business. It is not by any means affiliated with me or my concerns."

The real twitter handle of Jim Iyke is 'jimiykeofficial'. Jim is presently holidaying on a 12-day vacation in London and Paris.

Man, 26, emerges UNIOSUN best as VC bows out

After waiting for five years to secure varsity admission, Dotun Oladipo emerges the best graduating student at the second convocation of the University of Osun, Osogbo, SEGUN OLUGBILE reports
For the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, University of Osun, Osogbo, Osun State, Prof. Sola Akinrinade, last Friday was the end of an era. He moderated the second convocation of the institution, his last as the VC. The pioneer VC was deservedly celebrated not just by the institution but by the Visitor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who described his performance as excellent and his tenure as clean, open, transparent and committed to the laying down of an enviable foundation for the advancement of a peaceful and academically robust university.
But while the VC was enjoying the accolades, 26-year-old Dotun Oladipo was also receiving the best applause of the day. He emerged the best graduating student after obtaining a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.90 out of a possible 5.0 to bag a first class degree in Economics. He also won the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for the Most Outstanding Student of the Year, the Chancellor’s Award, the Best Graduating Student in the College of Management and Social Sciences and the Most Outstanding Student in the Department of Economics.
For his efforts, he was offered automatic employment at the institution. Also, the remaining 18 graduating students who also bagged first class degrees were awarded scholarships for their postgraduate studies in universities of their choices provided they desire to pick up careers in academics.
This is in line with Oladipo’s ambition. He desires to become a professor of economics in the nearest future. Each time he was called to the podium to receive his prizes, the audience made up of vice-chancellors of other universities, the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Mrs. Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori, principal officers of UNIOSUN, parents and students went wild in jubilation. Aregbesola and Akinrinade who were saddled with the responsibility of the presentation of the prizes to Oladipo also joined the jubilant crowd. They clapped, hugged and applauded him.

Bank driver arrested with 19 ATM cards, N652,000

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Dare Oladujoye, a driver with Zenith Bank, for allegedly being in possession of 19 Guaranty Trust Bank ATM cards and the sum of N652, 000.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect was using the cards to withdraw money from an ATM at Ogba branch of GTB when a security guard raised the alarm.
The Commissioner of Police for the state police command, Mr. Umar Manko, said as of the time of his arrest, the suspect had withdrawn N652, 000 from the ATM.
Manko said, “On July 26, 2012, around 8:30pm, there was a distress call that there was commotion at GTB, Ogba branch. On getting there, the suspect was seen with 19 ATM cards.
“He is an employee of Zenith Bank and we wondered what he was doing with the 19 cards. He was arrested and as of the time of his arrest, he had cashed N652, 000. The matter is under investigation.”
The suspect however denied stealing the ATM cards. He said whenever he lent people money, he would collect their ATM cards as collateral and return them after payment.
He said, “I usually loan people money and I’ve been doing it for over a year. Whenever I loan people money, I will collect their ATM cards and their Personal Identification Numbers. When they repay me, I return their cards to them.
“However, if they don’t pay me back in cash, I go to withdraw money from their accounts through the ATM.”
When quizzed on where he got the money which he lent people, he said he was into various kinds of businesses.
He also said he had friends in the banking sector who helped him with funds.
He said, “I am a very hard working person. I joined Zenith Bank as a driver over three years ago and in less than a year, I bought a tricycle which I leased to another driver that gives me returns on a regular basis.
“The following year, I bought two tricycles bringing the total number to three. I make N150,000 monthly from the tricycles and N60,000 from my salary. I also get credit facilities through my connections in the banking sector.
“On the day I was arrested, I went to withdraw money on Thursday night with some of the cards when a security guard raised the alarm. I did not steal those cards. I know the owners of the cards and I have their numbers on my phone.”

Jonathan Jets Out To Trinidad And Tobago, Jamaica Today

President Goodluck Jonathan will today depart Abuja to attend Trinidad and Tobago Emancipation Day and Jamaica’s Independence Anniversary Celebration.
A statement by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, noted that, accompanied by the First Lady, Dame Patience, Jonathan will review the Kambule Street Procession, the major event marking the Trinidad and Tobago Emancipation Day on Wednesday, August 1, with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
The statement made available to LEADERSHIP reads in part: “He (Jonathan) will present a Goodwill Message to the Procession, pay a courtesy call on Prof. George Maxwell Richards, President of Trinidad and Tobago and his wife, Dr. Jean Ramjohn Richards and meet with members of the Nigerian community resident in Trinidad and Tobago.
“President Jonathan and Dame Patience Jonathan will attend the Emancipation Day Cultural Programme at the Lidj Yasu Omowale Emancipation Village, and be hosted to a State Banquet by the President of Trinidad and Tobago.”
Abati further noted that the President’s Official visit to Jamaica will commence on Thursday, August 2, with a Special Commemorative Session of Parliament in his honour, after which he will be hosted by the Jamaican Prime Minister, Portia Simpson-Miller.
“Other activities of President Jonathan in Jamaica will include participation in a Mello Go Round at the National Stadium, a bilateral meeting in the Prime Minister’s office, a meeting with the Nigerian Community and a luncheon hosted by the Governor-General of Jamaica, Patrick Allen”.

More corps members redeploy from the north

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has entered the final stages of the mass redeployment of corps members posted to some crises-prone states in the northern part of the country.
The exercise, which commenced last week, is scheduled to end this week. Thousands of the corps members have continued to throng the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Kubwa, Abuja, where the exercise is taking place.
Chidiebere Osai, one of the corps members posted to Kebbi, however, cited health reasons as his reason for seeking redeployment; regardless of the fact that some locals in Birin-Kebbi threatened a group of them for drinking at a bar.
“It was more like just a warning; it won’t take us anything to heed it, and we’ll only be there for a year, not even a year but 10 months,” he said. “I have applied during camp but my application was not granted and I need to move back to Enugu as my doctor resides there. I have nowhere to put up in Abuja so I slept in the park; if they don’t answer me today I will go back to the park to sleep.”
Another corps member Blessing Ugoji, who was redeployed from Taraba State to Ekiti State, said she was pleased to have been redeployed from the north as she can have a rest of mind while serving her nation.

Turai Yar’adua rejects new land offers

The tussle between first lady, Patience Jonathan, and her predecessor, Turai Yar’adua, over a piece of land located in the Central Business District of Abuja, may be far from over.
An insider said the former first lady has rejected an offer of a new plot in exchange for the contentious property at a meeting that deliberated the proposal on Monday.
Sources had said the former first lady was being offered any other plot of her choice within the Central Business District, as a replacement for the contentious land earlier awarded to Yar’Adua’s Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (WAYEF), but revoked and given to Jonathan’s African First Ladies’ Peace Mission.
