President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote |
He said the contribution was a response to the clarion call by the state government in the wake of the July 10 flooding in the state, that public spirited individuals and organisations should come to the aid of the government.
Dangote explained that the business community in Lagos, was happy with the state governor and his administration because there were evidences that the taxes being paid were used judiciously.
The group’s president informed Governor Babatunde Fashola that the contribution from Dangote was to complement government’s efforts in resettling the victims and called on other well-meaning Nigerians and public spirited organisations to follow suit because the task of development was not for government alone.
He then assured governor Fashola that the Dangote group would always be ready to rise to the occasion anytime the need arose.
In his remark after receiving the N100 million cheque, the governor thanked Alhaji Dangote and his group for always wanting to assist the Lagos State government even without any request noting that the public spirit of the Dangote group was worthy of emulation by others.
