A facebook site which generally can be opened and surfed by any one, anywhere, any time, now becomes something to worry about simply you don't want to be accused of watching pornography. This Indecent act had been concluded to be some sort of hack which some have even conclude to be the hack The hacktivist group known as Anonymous as it has been said that the group launched a virus called the "Guy Fawkes virus" with which they would attack Facebook. Spamming and pornography is definitely one of Anonymous' trademark. From who ever/ group its from, they have successfully gotten facebook drown deep into a pornographic flood!
This nude pictures appears as updates , comments by friends, tags on photos and shows boldly on your news feed, Most of this is always attributed to friend who knows nothing about such, The pictures are sometimes extremely irritating, while some are like a caricature on a celebrity and sometimes causes funny scenarios,
"Imagine yourself at work and your boss walks past your computer or got a peep to your mobile just as a giant private part appears on your screen."
I believed the facebook team would have done something on this with its spam prevention tool, That's why i didn't write anything concerning it but i am so surprise still seeing such images rolling on news feeds which further call into question Facebook’s ability to deal with spam.
Possible Causes:
-Users apparently were duped into copying malicious code into their browser windows, helping the images spread. and by which some members even go as far as making comments on those pictures which in turn give feedback to friends about what they did.
-Obviously, facebook is making ways for third-party app developers registered with the site. Which simply means there are over thousands of people who have access to some of facebook data which can lead to some compromise.Because Facebook doesn’t verify anything about you or have any human review process at all
Advise:
As at now there's no straight method of preventing this but here is my little advise.
*For now shun acceptance of friend request from unknown persons
*Avoid clicking of external links
*Do not make comments on any of those pictures to avoid spread
According to one of the posts i saw, One of Facebook spokesman Andrew Noyes says that, on a site under virtually constant attack, the Facebook team is constantly working to protect its users.
“We believe the security fight requires a multipronged approach,” he said. “In addition to our dedicated legal team, Facebook also has security experts and engineers focused on the integrity of the site. We’re continuing to build systems to prevent and respond to spam attacks. Our User Operations team also works around the clock to identify problems and assist those affected.”
He also said Facebook’s security team has identified the hackers behind this Pornographic attack and are “working with our legal team to ensure appropriate consequences follow.”
Well i hope this stops soon as some of its users are already backing off from this network to avoid further indecent pictures and if truly this is from the Anonymous Group, then they are gradually reaching their target which is to bring it offline for a while.
Facebook now a no go area to children. Parents are to watch out!
