DPR Seals Filling Stations In Katsina

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in Katsina State yesterday sealed-off two petrol filling stations within the state capital for selling the product above the official pump price of N97 per litre.

The affected filling stations are Abba Saude Filling Station located on the IBB Way and Danbaranda Filling Station at Kofar Guga.

DPR Deputy Operation Controller Alhaji Haruna Ango, who led the operation, said the affected filling stations had defied the Federal Government’s order by selling the commodity above the N97 per litre pump price.

He said Saude Filling Station was caught selling the product at N135 per litre, while Danbaranda Filling Station was selling at N130 per litre.

“It is unfortunate that the marketers, whose product was lifted at the old price of N65 per litre, are now selling same above the official price. We are fully aware that throughout the period of the suspended strike, no product was supplied to the state, but the marketers still claim to have bought the commodity at N141. That is not true, hence their filling stations are sealed,” he said.

He reiterated the DPR’s determination to checkmate deviant marketers in the state until all of them complied with the government’s directive.
