The Special Task Force in charge of the security in Plateau State has warned the people of the state against any form of protest, saying that the Public Order Act and State of Emergency declared in four local government areas of the state prohibited unlawful procession.
A statement issued by the Media/Information Officer of the command, Captain Charles Ekeocha, and made available to Nigerian Tribune in Jos, advised people in their own interest to desist from any form of protest, warning that the Special Task Force and other security agencies would not tolerate any act that would lead to the breakdown of law and order in the state.
The statement implored the people of the state to go about their lawful activities and report any suspicious movement to the security agents for prompt action.
Meanwhile, transportation fares and prices of goods and services have gone up in Plateau State following the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government while many people within Jos, the state capital, now resorted to trekking.
Nigerian Tribune investigation revealed that some traders and motorists within the state capital took advantage of the situation to exploit their customers by charging beyond reasonable prices.
