Osaze foresees tough Man City challenge

West Brom striker Osaze Odemwingie says the 3-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday makes their journey to Manchester City on Wednesday (today) easy, however. He warns that the match against title contenders will be a tough one.
“It will be an interesting game because we want to continue enjoying our season. To make our season even better it would be nice to get some points against one of the big teams.
“I’m happy that now we can go to Man City more relaxed, because if we hadn’t got the result on against Rovers last Saturday, it would not have been easy travelling there, knowing how good they are.”
The Nigerian striker is also looking to use the Wednesday’s trip as a barometer for how far Albion have progressed this term.
Odemwingie is eager to pits his wits against the Barclays Premier League title contenders, acknowledging victory for City is vital if they are to have any chance of closing the eight-point gap on leaders Manchester United over the last six games.
But he also believes the Etihad Stadium encounter presents the 13th-placed Baggies with the chance to express themselves after taking a big stride towards safety with the Saturday’s win.
“Sometimes we play and we look like a top Premier League side,” said Odemwingie.
“We need to do that more often. It’s an opportunity for us to play against a top side and see where we’re at. It’s more difficult away and they may be more desperate for points than they were on Boxing Day.
“We now have more confidence and we’re more relaxed. Hopefully that will help us perform against City.”
