UNILAG declares 3 days of mourning for VC's death

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has declared three days of mourning in honour of its late Vice-Chancellor (VC), Professor Adetokunbo Sofoluwe, who passed away at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) on Saturday.
During the mourning period, which commences from Monday May 14 to Wednesday May 16, all lectures, statutory meetings and other university activities at its three campuses will not hold.
According to hospital sources, the VC suffered a heart attack while in his office at the Department of Computer Science but managed to call his doctor from the medical centre who came to his rescue and brought him to the medical centre in an ambulance.
He was subsequently transferred to LUTH where he was diagnosed as having myocardial infarction.
He was resuscitated before being transferred to the high dependency unit inward E8 of LUTH.
Unfortunately, he suffered a second heart attack and all efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
Post mortem exam has since been carried out and this has confirmed the cause of death to be of cardiac origin.
