Several
leaders and health experts have arrived Washington DC, the capital city
of the United States in preparation for the 2012 International AIDS
Conference which will begin today.
Ms. Francesca Da Ros, an official of the press department of the
International AIDS Society, which is the organiser of the annually held
event, confirmed to our correspondent that people like the former U.S.
First Lady Laura Bush, U.S. Senators John Kerry and Lindsey Graham, U.S.
House of Representatives Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi , and U.S.
Congresswoman Barbara Lee, have already arrived for the event.
She also confirmed that World Bank President, Jim Yong Kim; UNAIDS
Executive Director, Michel Sidibé, and The Earth Institute Director,
Jeffrey Sachs, who will be addressing the 19th International AIDS
Conference (AIDS 2012) in Washington, D.C., have also arrived.
However, Ms. Francesca Da Ros confirmed that the Deputy President of
South Africa, Mr. Kgalema Motlanthe, will be arriving Washington DC
today with the delegation of his country to attend the event.
U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, will address the
opening plenary session at the conference tomorrow at the Washington
Convention Centre, Room 1.
