Council threatens UNIABUJA, UNILORIN, others with sanction

Veterinary Council of Nigeria, VCN, yesterday, threatened to sanction three federal universities running non-accredited veterinary medicine programmes. The affected institutions are the University of Agriculture Umudike; University of Abuja and the University of Ilorin.
President of VCN, Professor Gabriel Ogundipe, gave the warning at the 103rd regular meeting of the council in Abuja. He said the regulatory body will stop universities, which lacked the required facilities, from running the course.
Ogundipe said: “The three universities do not have the required facilities for training of veterinary tertiary doctors. That is why the council has not given them accreditation.
“We are going to discus the report of our visitation to those universities at this meeting in respect of  University of Agriculture Umudike, University of Abuja and the University of Ilorin.”
