President
Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday in London said the Nigeria’s victory at the
2013 African Cup of Nations was a manifestation of the on-going
transformation in Nigeria.
Jonathan, who spoke to newsmen shortly
after watching the AFCON final where Nigeria defeated Burkina Faso 1-0,
expressed happiness at the victory.
“I am very happy, they have made me
proud. This is a sign of the good things happening in Nigeria and a sign
of good things to come,” Jonathan said.
Jonathan described the team as a
“transformed Super Eagles” as he urged Nigerians to close ranks in other
human endeavours to ensure the success of the transformation agenda.
“This is a transformed Super Eagles, and
their success shows that with cooperation we can achieve a lot. We
should all work together to achieve our common goals,” he said.
