PDP in unholy alliance – Buhari

Gen. Buhari
Leader and presidential candidate of Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) has accused Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of an unholy merger with some public service agencies to hold to power by crooked means.
Speaking at the CPC Interactive Dialogue with its elected representatives yesterday in Abuja, Buhari said the country had been in the grip of bad governance under the PDP-led government since 1999, as it had manipulated some relevant government institutions to remain in power.
He said the only way to remove PDP was to have a strong and broader merger.
Buhari said: “The country is in the grip of a bad government whose only purpose is to hold on to power by hook or by crook— preferably by crook.

“PDP does not need merger or alliance. They are already merged and are in alliance with Police, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the judiciary, and also with the Nigerian National petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and pension funds.
“The country is tired of PDP. We are tired of oppression, corruption and insecurity.”
Buhari was optimistic that merger was the only political instrument that can end PDP’s governance, and he urged the political class to embrace and actualise the merger currently pursued by opposition parties to rescue the country from the grip of PDP.
He said: “I believe merger is the only way to prevent the continuation of this bad governance. The political class is in one accord that the only way to stabilise the nation is for the opposition to merge and face the ruling party.”
Buhari also showered encomium on the party’s elected representatives for their victory at the 2011 general elections without any form of electoral malpractice, and described them as face of CPC.
