NSCDC arrests 82 candidades for exam malpractice

The Nigeria Security  and Civil Defence  Corps, Ogun State Command  said on Sunday that  it arrested 82 candidates for examination malpractices during  the Unified  Tertiary Matriculation Examination in the State.
The NSCDC however said that the UTME, conducted on Saturday in about 108 centres across the state, recorded  no violence .
Corps Commandant,  Aboluwoye Akinwande, stated this  in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Kareem Olanrewaju.
Aboluwaye disclosed that  the  candidates were arrested from different centres  across  the state for perpetrating all sorts of malpractices  during the examination.

He said that  30 candidates were  arrested   in various centres in Abeokuta, nine in  Ewekoro Local Government  while others were arrested  at  Olabisi Onabanjo  University centre  and Molusi College  in Ijebu Igbo.
The NSCDC boss said, “Some of them  were caught using their phones, while others were in possession of prohibited  materials like books, palm tops, scientific calculators  among  others.
The corps will take appropriate action on the candidates caught cheating.
”The first thing is that they have been made to fill relevant forms.
“Investigation will be conducted, that will determine their culpability and then we can decide on their  trial. Necessary  information about them have been collected.
“Apart from the arrest, no violence was  recorded  in any of the   108 examination  centres.”
Akinwande said the corps would continue to work to ensure reduction in crime in the state.
“Parents and other stakeholders must work with us to ensure this,” the corps commander said.
