A former Super Eagles captain Nwankwo Kanu has asked for improved financial support for his novel Heart Foundation from corporate Nigeria and governmental agencies, even as he pledges his life time to charitable work.
Speaking at the occasion of his birthday anniversary which was marked with fanfare with kids with heart-related ailments as well as several others that had benefited from the KHF, Kanu said it was about time that Nigerians supported children in dire need of help. He said he was touched by the passionate appeals made by ch ildren and parents.

The well-attended get-together which was hosted at the former African Footballer of the Year’s Hardley Suite Apartments in Victoria Island, Lagos afforded him the chance to make renewed call on individuals and corporate organisations to come to the aid of his organisation.
“I feel so happy to be in the midst of these children because they can see that we are doing our best for them at the Foundation,” said Kanu who survived a career-threatening heart ailment before launching the Kanu Heart Foundation in 2000.
“There are still several children on the waiting list who need help immediately.
“We cannot do this on our own and that is why we are begging the government and our friends in corporate organisations to be of help and support our efforts.”
