Nobel Peace prize: Fayemi congratulates Sirleaf, Gbowee

Gbowee, Liberia's president
EKITI State governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has congratulated the president of Liberia,  Ellen Johnson- Sirleaf and her compatriot and peace advocate, Lehmaa Gbowee, for winning the much coveted Nobel Peace prize.
The governor described the award on the duo as  “richly deserved” and a victory for all genuine fighters for freedom and justice.
Sirleaf, Gbowee and Tawakul Karman, a  Yemeni female pro-democracy activist, were on Friday jointly awarded the 2011 Nobel Peace prize.
Governor Fayemi said in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Yinka Oyebode,  that as a friend to the two laureates and fellow comrade  in the struggle for peace and justice in Liberia and an active participant-observer of the Liberian peace process that culminated in the Accra Peace Accord in 2003, he could attest  to the extraordinary efforts of Liberian women, led by the two winners.
He also lauded the contributions of others like Theresa Leigh-Sherman; Edwina Cooper and Verbah Gayflor in the eventual agreement that emerged after several months of talks in Accra.
