Nightmarish return for Osaze, Aluko scores

Osaze Odemwingie
Super Eagles attacker Osaze Odemwingie returned to action for his club West Brom on Sunday in what turned out a nightmarish return. The striker could not ignite his goals-scoring form as the Baggies slumped to a 3-1 defeat in the hands of visiting Newcastle.
By Saturday the Nigerian was excited looking ahead to the game and tweeted his thoughts about the clash after missing out for two weekends. The question he asked via Tweeter was answered by the embarrassing outing.
Osaze had tweeted, “Looks like I will be back in action tomorrow! Is that good news for the Baggies? Or bad news? Haha missed The Hawthorns! Let’s go there!”
By Sunday night the answer was clear. It was not good news for the Baggies.
Papiss Demba Cisse scored twice as Newcastle delivered a first-half masterclass in the 3-1 win that maintained their unlikely push for a finish in the Champions League places.
The Senegal striker finished off well-worked moves either side of a solo effort by Hatem Ben Arfa, virtually securing victory for Newcastle by the 34th minute.
West Brom improved after the break, with substitute Shane Long reducing the deficit in the 52nd after a defensive mix-up, but Newcastle held on to move level on points with fifth-place Chelsea.
While it was gnashing of teeth at the Hawthorns, in Glasgow Sone Aluko kept to his promise to slow Celtic down in their race to the Scottish Premier League title. The former Aberdeen forward opened scoring in the 10th minute in the five-goal thriller at the Ibrox Stadium on Sunday to help Rangers win 3-2.
