Ondo
State Governor Olusegun Mimiko said on Tuesday that the support of the
grassroots for the Labour Party would ensure his victory in the October
20 governorship election and send the opposition into electoral “coma”
for eight years.
Mimiko, according to a statement by the Commissioner for Information,
Mr. Kayode Akinmade, stated this while addressing an LP stakeholders
meeting in Akure.
The statement read in part, “By the time the election is over and the
results are out, the opposition will experience a thunderbolt defeat.
The Edo State election everybody is praising as peaceful and fair will
be nothing compared to what will happen here.
“It is going to be a very peaceful and credible one man, one vote
election. We are not planning just to beat them, but beat them silly to
the extent that they won’t recover from that electoral coma in the next
eight years.”
Meanwhile, the National Publicity Secretary, Action Congress of
Nigeria, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has dismissed allegations that the party
lacked internal democracy.
