Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has
hailed Nigeria’s number one goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, for making a
return to Israel after a tumultuous time in the French Ligue One.
Eagles keeper Enyeama joined Maccabi
Tel-Aviv from French side Lille on a season-long loan on Wednesday,
after falling down the pecking order at the French club.
The Nigerian international arrived in
France last summer from Maccabi rivals Hapoel but the move has so far
failed to work out with the 29-year-old only playing three games.
Last season Enyeama was Lille’s second
keeper behind former French international Mickael Landreau but he has
been pushed to third choice after coach Rudi Garcia recently acquired
Steeve Elana from Brest.
But Keshi believes Enyeama’s move was
the best for the Nigerian number one, saying the player needed regular
club action in order to remain relevant in the national team.
