Ulion, who runs a prayer and healing centre at 135,
Afokang Road in Calabar South, said when he woke up about 2am on Sunday,
he saw a boy and a girl, covered with clothes sleeping on his veranda.
He said on further observation, he saw Onuoha, who
hails from Abia State, standing far away at such an ungodly hour
frantically making calls.
Although Ulion acknowledged that Onuoha sometimes
visited his ‘healing home’ for prayers, he was shocked that the suspect
could not offer any satisfactory response when he was questioned
regarding the children.
The cleric said he quickly contacted warders attached to the nearby Afokang Prison, who picked up the suspect.
Ulion said, “When he could not explain who the
children were and what he intended to do with them and was jittery and
frantically making calls to unknown persons, I rushed to Afokang Prison,
which is beside my house and invited the warders.
“When the warders picked him, Onuoha confessed that
he lured the children from Brotherhood of the Cross and Star
headquarters located at 34 Ambo Street, near Mbukpa Road in Calabar
South.
“Onuoha said he wanted to take the children to their
parents, but could not explain where the parents were and what the names
of the two children were.”
It was learnt that the warders immediately
transferred Onuoha and the two children to the Mbukpa Divisional Police
Station for further investigations.
