D’banj drops Don Jazzy from Oliver Twist video

For those who didn’t believe that Don Jazzy and his best pal D’banj were separated, the confirmation comes in form of the recent release of the Oliver Twist video by the later without the mention of their joint record company, Mo’Hits.
The video which also meant that the Kokomaster seems to have moved on with his life didn’t also feature Don Jazzy as was the practice with other videos released by Mo’Hit. But what was very obvious was the legendary Don Jazzy touch.

Just last week, the much anticipated and much talked about video, hit the market.
The eclectic video hit the air this week, showing the Koko master surrounded with beautiful women, all making advances at him.
The video has no retouching, as it still carries ace producer, Don Jazzy’s fine beat and of course, the same lyrics.
However, the surprising thing about the video which has sent tongues wagging, is the absence of other Mo’hit crew members on the video.
The video, obviously shot outside the country and featuring non local girls, has just D’banj holding forth his game till almost the ending part when, American producer, Kayne West made a cameo appearance.
The opening of the video has the inscription, “Good presents in association with Mo’hit records, Oliver Twist”, making it obvious that the video was produced by Kayne West’s G.O.O.D music, leaving out Don Jazzy’s signature. The video was however directed by Nigeria’s Sesan Ogunro.
It would be recalled that the audio of D’banj’s Oliver Twist was dropped sometimes last year after which the duo, D’banj and Don Jazzy hit the big deal with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D music.
Afterward, the once-upon-a-time good relationship between the Mo’hit big wig went sour last month  when both went their separate ways.

Kabiru Sokoto: FG dumps plan to prosecute Zakari Biu

There were indications in Abuja, yesterday, that the Federal Government may have abandoned the idea of prosecuting dismissed Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Zakari Biu, over the escape of Boko Haram kingpin, Kabiru Sokoto, the alleged mastermind of the Christmas day bombing in Madalla, Niger State that killed about 47 people.
It would be recalled that the Police Service Commission, PSC, dismissed the officer who was in charge of Boko Haram investigations last month after the report of the Force Disciplinary Committee, FDC, which tried him recommended that he be compulsorily retired or dismissed for negligence of duty which resulted in Sokoto’s escape near Abaji.

This was after former Inspector General of Police, Mr Hafiz Ringim, queried and suspended CP Biu and put him under house arrest, after which he was taken to a Police detention facility.
Vanguard was told, yesterday, that the authorities had dumped the idea of prosecuting him because some discrepancies in the manner he was dismissed might have been discovered. It was learnt that the allegation of  criminal negligence of duty could not be proved but rather that of administrative negligence which does not require prosecution.
Moreover, it was gathered that Zakari Biu’s dismissal coupled with his argument that he lost his son, a senior operative of EFCC, to terrorists bombings on October 1, 2010 and as such would never have colluded to let a confirmed Boko Haram kingpin escape, were enough punishments and that further prosecuting him was akin to double tragedy.
The source disclosed that the re-arrest of Sokoto and the confessions of the suspect that Zakari Biu was unaware of the plan to escape, has further helped Biu’s cause. It was also said that punishment for criminal negligence was usually severe while his dismissal or compulsory retirement if it had gone the other way, was considered commensurate for administrative negligence because of his rank.

PDP CONVENTION FALLOUT: Tukur emerges consensus candidate

AFTER hours of intrigues, and intense horse-trading among President Goodluck Jonathan, governors of the 36 states and some top brass of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  former Industries Minister and Second Republic Governor of old Gongola State, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur has been accepted as the consensus National Chairmanship candidate of the party in tomorrow’s national convention in Abuja.
Indeed, the faces of those, who will run the affairs of the party are also becoming clearer as former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola was also endorsed as consensus secretaryship candidate; Dr Sam Jaja, deputy national secretaryship candidate; Mr Olisa Metu,publicity secretary; Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha, organising secretary and Dr Kema Chikwe, women leader.
This is coming as North-East governors over ruled the outcome of Tuesday’s zonal congress of the party that side-stepped Tukur and elected Dr. Musa Babayo as zonal national chairmanship candidate. Tukur polled two votes at the contest while Babayo had 14 votes.
The North-East governors teamed up with their colleagues from the other zones, who, according to sources, met with the President for several hours last night. Vanguard learnt that the meeting was still on as of press time.
With these endorsements, other aspirants are expected to drop their ambitions to make way for a roller-coaster convention tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Tukur, has accused  former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of allegedly orchestrating his defeat in order not to jeopardize his (Atiku) presidential ambition in 2015. Tukur alleged that the former Vice President brainwashed officials of the party in his North-East base to go ahead and frustrate his ambition.
This is just as eleven candidates in the race for the national chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP were last night engaged in different schemes to outwit one another as battle lines changed among them as new alliances were formed among the candidates for the top party job.

For the second week running, confusion has had the better of the Force Headquarters of the police in Abuja. While it has not got over the helicopter crash that killed DIG Haruna John and three other senior officers last week in Jos, Plateau State, yesterday was a different turn in the event of things.
The day that started normally later ended in confusion as the last batch of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) came back to the offices they left. The return that looked like a hijack of the offices, was said to have been at the behest of the Presidency. As the ex-AIGs came back, they all headed to the offices from where they left the service. Even those of them that served at the zonal divisions were also there in their official uniform.
The drama took the police headquarters unaware as the story making the rounds was that since the AIGs had challenged their ouster, they possibly got orders from powerful offices for their return pending when the matter would be resolved.
During the drama, those who got to their former offices and met some other AIGs already posted there, ordered the new occupants to leave immediately.But for those whose offices were still unoccupied, it was a smooth sail as they simply got back into the saddle as if they were never out.
The situation, according to a reliable source, forced the serving or new AIGs to take the option of leaving and planning to get back to where they were promoted while serving as Commissioners of Police.But another dilemma is what becomes of them as the positions they left had been filled either by newly-appointed state commissioners or those in charge of units and formations.
In the first week this month, four AIGs were among the 40 senior officers between the ranks of Deputy Commissioners of Police and Commissioners of Police forcefully retired.
Seventeen officers who had served the 35 years statutory requirement were also retired formally on March 1. But regarding the other officers, the Police Service Commission (PSC), led by retired DIG Parry Osayande, had asked them in writing to tender their voluntary retirement letters. Many of them, who felt there was no reason for such coercion by the PSC, resisted it.
However, some of them gave conditions which included promotion to the next rank while they accepted to apply for voluntary exit.

The movie features the likes of Muyiwa Londoner,Lola Alao(herself), Bimbo Akintola,Akin Lewis,Saidi Balogun, Kunle Afod,Bukky Wright, Moji Olaiya among others.The sound track for the movie was done by Daddy Kalajaiye.

She will on that day also be launching her Lola Alao kitchen so its going to be a 2-in-1 event.
