FOLLOWING the political crisis that is currently engulfing the
People's Democratic Party (PDP) on who becomes the governorship
candidate of the party, the senate president, Senator David Mark, has
arrived in Lokoja to find lasting solution to the problem.
The Senate president, who arrived in Lokoja, on Thursday evening,
with Air Force helicopter headed to the Government House to see the
state governor.
Sources close to Government House disclosed to the Nigerian Tribune
that Senator Mark’s visit was at the instant of President Goodluck
Jonathan to speak with interested group of the party.
According to the sources, the Senate president was expected to make
speak with the governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, to avoid any thing that
would affect the success of the party in the forth coming governorship
election in the state.
The sources said following the alleged adoption of Captain Idris Wada
as one of the governorship aspirants of the party by the governor the
situation was generating tension and cold war among all the party
members in the state.
Senator David Mark is expected to meet the governor, who is who in
PDP in the state, all the Senators and members of House of
Representative and the aspirants.
The Senate president is expected to travel down to Edo state tomorrow to attend the burial of late Admiral Augustin Aikhomu.
