A
former coach of Nigeria, Samson Siasia, has warned the Ghana Football
Association against giving the Black Stars job to Marcel Desailly.
The former Nigeria international said Ghana will be
gambling with the fate of the senior national team if the vacant Black
Stars coaching position is handed over to the 1998 World Cup winner.
According to Siasia, the former Chelsea defender is a
novice in the coaching business and it will be a major risk to give him
the Black Stars job now, although he is an experienced player.
“He (Desailly) has not coached before and just going
to the national team, I think you need time to prepare yourself even
though you have played at the highest level,” Siasia told Accra-based Citi FM.
“You have to start somewhere that will give you the
kind of experience and you will know exactly how to talk to the players
and getting them motivated and get them out there and do the job you
want them to do.”
