Doctor Arrested in Bauchi for Removing Patient’s Kidneys



Wonders, they say, shall never end especially in Nigeria. There has been a lot of talk in recent times about how the Nigerian government does not appreciate it’s human resources, thereby resulting in what has been described as massive “Brain Drain”. One of the sectors that suffer this so called brain drain is the medical sector. Recently, the Federal Ministry of Health decried the massive export of Nigerian medical personnel.
What could be responsible for this trend? Some believe they are not being appreciated in their home country. Easily, people will even cite examples like the recent showdown between the Lagos State Government – supposedly one of the most respected states in the country – and medical doctors in its employ. And this crisis is duplicated in various states all over the country.
It is against this background that one seeks an adequate explanation for what recently happened in State where a medical , one Dr. Sani, the proprietor of Aminchi Clinic in Yakubu Wanka, , was alleged to have removed the two kidneys his patient, one Abubakar Buba. Buba is currently lying critically ill in hospital on dialysis. It was gathered that he now needs about N7 million for transplant to survive.
The 23-year-old Abubakar, it was gathered, fell ill and was taken to the clinic by his parents. His condition was said to have worsened after the allegedly carried out an operation on him. The police in State have since arrested the medical .
