Inter open to £40m United offer for Sneijder

(ESPN) — Inter Milan are reportedly willing to let Wesley Sneijder leave for Manchester United in January, but only if the champions are prepared to part with £40 million.
Sneijder was linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer, but a deal never materialised.
But with United losing ground to rivals Manchester City in the Premier League title race, Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to bolster his midfield. And with Inter in turmoil after a woeful start to the Serie A season, Sneijder could be on his way to Old Trafford in January.
“Inter will sell Sneijder but it will have to be on their terms. They believe he is worth £40m in the current market,” a source was quoted as saying in the Daily Star. “He is one of the leading players in the world in his position, so he won’t be allowed to leave on the cheap. Now we wait and see what happens in the near future.”
Should a deal be agreed to let Sneijder leave the San Siro, it is likely to exceed the transfer fee of record signing Dimitar Berbatov, who cost United £30.7m when he signed from Tottenham in 2008.
