Oteh Resumes, Holds Strategic Meeting With Mgt

The Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, (SEC), Ms. Arunma Oteh, resumed at her office yesterday following a recall by the Federal Government last week.
LEADERSHIP investigations revealed that though the embattled DG went briefly to the office last Friday, she resumed fully yesterday morning and held meetings with senior staff of the Commission.
Though the issues discussed at the meeting were not made public, LEADERSHIP gathered that the highpoint was on strategies about how they could work as a team for the benefit of the capital market and the economy as a whole.
The staff of SEC, who last week protested her recall, said they were tired of the ‘one-man’ show which was characteristic of Oteh’s administration. They also accused her of high-handedness.
Both SEC’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Mr Yakubu Olaleye, and Oteh’s Communication Adviser, Mr. Obi Adindu, confirmed to LEADERSHIP that she resumed work yesterday.
Oteh was, last week, recalled from an indefinite suspension slammed on her following allegations of financial recklessness. A firm of external auditors – PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) was subsequently engaged to examine the commission’s books.
