Super
Eagles coach Stephen Keshi and goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama condemned
Egyptian referee Grisha Ghead’s decision to award the penalty that
helped Zambia equalise in their South Africa 2013 Africa Cup of Nations
Group C game against Nigeria on Friday.
The match stood at 1-0 until the 83rd minute when the referee adjudged Ogenyi Onazi to have fouled Emmanuel Mayuka in the box.
Zambia goalkeeper Mweene Kennedy, who
was voted the Man of the Match, beat Enyeama from the spot equaliser
but the Nigeria captain for the match said the call was the worst he had
witnessed in the game.
“ That decision has no place in the game and we would have won but for the referee,” Enyeama said.
“I was mad when I saw his decision and it was clear what his intention was. We won the match but he denied Nigeria.”
