The Executive Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Mrs
Omougui-Ifueko Okauru, at the weekend tasked 391 registered contractors
to FIRS on the need to ensure adherence to the rules and regulations
guiding the public procurement process.
Okauru, who made this known at the opening of a one-day interactive
session with the FIRS consultants and contractors, said there was the
need for good and quality service delivery, professionalism and high
ethical standard in the procurement process among stakeholders.
According to a press statement signed by the Director, Corporate
Communications Department, Mr Emmanuel Obeta and made available to the
Nigerian Tribune, Okauru said the service would be fair and just to
stakeholders, while ensuring compliance with the rules and regulations
of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) in the award and
implementation of contracts.
Okauru acknowledged that there had been challenges confronting
contractors and service providers, a situation the service was
constantly trying to improve, but, however, advised stakeholders to
always play by the rules, in order to instill confidence in people, as
well as communicate any processes that would necessitate delays in their
projects execution.
