Protests over Lagos ACN LG chairmanship candidates’ list

REJECTION and condemnation, on Monday, trailed the list of chairmanship candidates released by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) across the local government and local council development areas of Lagos  State.
The list has further heightened the serious tension among the party loyalists, who had before the release of the list, expressed their fears over the attempt by the party leadership to handpick candidates.

Residents of Somolu, under the aegis of Somolu Concerned Youths, have condemned the “selection” of Bangostowe as the party’s chairmanship candidate in the forthcoming local government election.
The youth said apart from the fact that the incumbent chairman had not convinced them of his ability to move the council forward, he had also allegedly been indicted by the state House of Assembly.
The spokesperson of the group, Olalere Adebayo, urged the party leadership to consider the teeming population of Somolu and save them from insecurity which had characterised the administration of Bagostowe.
In related development, youths and  elders from Badagry Local Government Area have also condemned the “handpicking of Husitode Moses Dosu as the candidate of the party in the coming local government election.
The residents of Badagry claimed that the re-appointment of the incumbent local government chairman was a sure way to take Badagry back by another 10 years.
Ibraheem Adepegba, a youth leader in Badagry, said the administration of Dosu had not done anything to impact on the lives of the people of Badagry, while accusing him of fanning the ember of disunity in the town.
The traditional rulers of Badagry, led by the Akran of Badagry, had, prior to the selection of Dosu as the party’s candidate, written to the state party chairman, Dele Ajomale, not to pick the incumbent chairman.
