Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State has assured National Youth
Service, NYSC, members deployed to the state of their safety during the
service year.
Governor Shettima, who spoke while on a visit to the NYSC camp in
Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area of the state where the Batch “C”
NYSC members are having their orientation, said the worst of the
security challenges in Borno State was over and that they should
complement government efforts in rebuilding the state.
He said: “We are conscious of our duties and obligations to you. We
are aware of your expectations from us. I want to assure you that the
government and good people of Borno State are prepared to make you safe,
happy and comfortable.
“We cannot compromise on your safety, and to this end we have put in
place adequate machinery to safeguard your interests. We want to partner
with you and we expect you to be willing partners in our quest to
reposition our dear state.”
According to him, the task of rebuilding Borno State is a
collaborative effort and NYSC members are major stakeholders in that
direction. He stressed that the security challenges that faced the state
was a temporary setback and the state will rise from the ashes of that
crisis to be great and peaceful again.
