GOVERNOR Adams Oshiomhole yesterday, pulled down sign boards erected
along the Dawson-Ugbowo roads by the Federal Ministry of Works, citing
what he described as “mischievous” attempt by the Minister of Works, Mr.
Mike Onolemenmen to give the impression that the on going work along
the road was a Federal Government project.
The Governor became infuriated when it was observed during an
inspection of on going state government projects along Ugbowo road, that
the Federal Government sign board was erected on the area where the
state government is constructing additional two lanes.
Oshiomhole said: “You can see for yourself the fact that Edo State
Government is doing additional two lanes on Dawson road, New Lagos road
and Ugbowo road. As you see for your self the Federal Ministry of Works
put sign board there to suggest that the job is being done by the
Federal Government, whereas that is not true.
“Infact that was the job the former Minister of Works said we did not
have the permission of government to do and I had to remind him that
the land belongs to the state government and not the Federal Government.
Now they went and put sign board so all I have done now is to remove
them so that the public cannot be deceived about who is responsible for
this additional lanes that we have created.
