Rwanda players get $800 for Eagles draw

SUPER Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi
Even as Nigerian players receive hefty pay for winning or drawing matches, it has been revealed that each Rwandan player that featured in last week’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria received $800 from the Rwandan FA for what has been described as “an impressive performance.”
Even though the draw result has not guaranteed the Rwandans a ticket to the next stage FERWAFA (the country’s FA) decided to repay the players for their gallantry against a former number five country on the FIFA rankings.
According to Rwanda Times, FERWAFA President Mr. Celestine Ntagungira, on Tuesday, told the media that all players had been paid the sum of $500, plus the mandatory training allowance of $300.
“It is not true that players were not given bonuses. I can confirm to you that players were given $800 each,” Ntagungira said before adding that a win would have fetched each player a thousand dollars.
