The Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum and Anambra State GovernorPeter Obi yesterday disclosed that the late renowned writer, Prof. Chinua Achebewould be buried on May 23. 2013.
Obi made the disclosure at Government House Enugu after a meeting of the South -East Governors with the family of the late Achebe.
Obi, who failed to a disclose the details of the outcome of the meeting, however, stated that the governors deliberated on security, burial of Achebe and theEnugu International Airport.
Also speaking with journalists, the first son of the late Achebe, Ikechukwu, described his father as a good man who wished Nigeria well.
He recalled that his father’s last wishes was a Nigeria that would be free of corruption as well as a Nigeria that would live up to the expectations of its citizens.
Ikechukwu also thanked President Goodluck Jonathan for granting him an opportunity to meet with him and his support so far to the family.
He also expressed gratitude to the South -East Governors for their support and special indication that his late father,s burial was an important event.
Governors Peter Obi (Anambra); Martin Elechi ( Ebonyi); Theodore Orji (Abia) and Sullivan Chime (Enugu) attended the meeting while Imo State GovernorRochas Okorocha was represented by his deputy, Mr. Eze Madumere.
