Intense lobby to save Siasia but•••

There were high-wired lobby yesterday to disuade the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, from firing or demoting embattled Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia.
The NFF through its Technical Committee Chairman, Barrister Chris Green had promised to make the football house’s decision on Siasia today after he failed to qualify the Eagles to next year’s African Cup of Nations to be hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
The NFF and its technical committee with their lawyers, Sports Vanguard gathered, had scrutinised the contract papers of the coach and are holding him by his jugular on the section he signed to qualify the country to the Nations Cup final and take the team to the semi-final stage. “Siasia had a free hand and got all he wanted from the NFF.

By the contract he signed, he has failed”, an embittered member of the Technical Committee argued yesterday when he learnt of the massive lobby to retain the coach.
Sports Minister Yusuf Suleiman sparked off the lobby when he said that the football house should not make Siasia a scape-goat by sacking him. By yesterday, an insider in the football house said that they were inaundated with messages from high places, some even dropping the name of President Goodluck Jonathan to spare the hammer on his kinsman.
However, it appears that the NFF would ignore all the supplications to appoint a Technical Director above Siasia. The line is drawn.
