Why I won’t mourn my husband, by Haruna’s widow
At a Christian supplication service in honour of her late husband, who died along with three other officers in last Wednesday’s helicopter crash in Jos, she said, “Arise for me and my family, Oh God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The enemy is coming to see my tears, but I will not mourn in Jesus’ name.”
The atmosphere at the Woodfield Estate, Jabi-Abuja home of Haruna was one of gloom and despair as more sympathisers trooped there to console the widow and her children.
When Vanguard visited, sympathisers hovered around the vicinity, some wailing while others wondered in hushed tones why such a fine officer as late Haruna was cut in his prime by untimely death.
Those who had signed the condolence registers included Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State; Minister of Police Affairs, Navy-Captain Caleb Olubolade and former Senate President, Senator Ken Nnamani.
Sympathizers’ also included past DIGs Operations of the police force and late Haruna’s predecessors, John Ahmadu and Audu Abubakar.
Sympathizers’ took turns to console Mrs. Haruna, while other groups engaged her and the entire family in singing and prayer sessions, offering consolations.
The prayers had consolatory effect on Mrs. Haruna as she wailed in supplication. She tearfully declined a chat with Vanguard preferring it for another time soon.
