With the Muslim month of Ramadan at an end, religious and state leaders have called on Muslims across the country to imbibe the lessons of the month and not to return to thevices which they avoided during the fasting period.
In his Eid-El- Fitri message released in Abeokuta Monday, OgunState governor, IbikunleAmosun, said the lessons of Ramadan “are supposed to guide our future endeavours and bring us closer to the Almighty Allah, especially at this momentous turning point in the history of our nation.”
He urged the people to remember Allah’s injunction by obeying constituted authority, respecting the laws of the land and performingtheir civic obligations.
The governor advised alladherents of Islam in Ogun State and Nigeria in general to always uphold the tenets of the religion by living in peace with one another and called on Islamic clerics to continue to deliver sermons which preach peace among all Nigerians.
“This is the kernel of the message of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (SAW) to the entire world,” he said.
Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of fasting in the holy month of Ramadan, urging them to put to practice the lessons learnt in the period.(234nEXT)
