Sultan condemns violence in Jos, UN House bombing

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar, has described as unfortunate the religious violence that erupted in Jos on Monday as well as Friday’s bombing of the United Nations secretariat in Abuja, in which about 30 people died while scores of others sustained varying degrees of injury.
The Sultan, who made the condemnation in his Sallah speech on Tuesday shortly after Eid Ul-Fitr prayers, calledon the Federal Government to, as a matter of urgency, investigate the incidents with a view tobringing perpetrators tobook.
He said it was high timegovernment stepped up measures that would prevent future occurrences.
"We seriously condemn this evil act just as we condole the families of those who lost their loved ones and commiserate with those who lost their property as a result of the attack," the Sultan said.
He appealed to muslimsnot to allow themselves to be used by anybody for the purpose of achieving hisor her selfish goals.(Nigerian Tribune)
