Ekiti begins payment of new minimum wage September

The Ekiti State government has announced that workers in the employ of  the state government are to enjoy the new national minimum wage from September.
According to the statement, Governor Fayemi stated that his administration was committed to the payment of the N18,000 minimum wage to its workers and “expressed confidence that all the stakeholders involved in negotiations on government side and that of Labour would soon conclude negotiations to pave  way for the payment of the new wage.”
He explained that the welfare of Ekiti workers was critical to his administration, and commended them for standing by him throughout the three and a half years of his struggle to regain his mandate.
The governor said  government would start paying the workers the new wage in September as government and labour were expected to finalise modalities for the payment before September 15.
According to the statement, “a 14-man committee made up of seven members each from both sides are already working on the modalities to facilitate the payment of the new wage to Ekiti workers.”
