Lagos restricts access to deputy gov’s office

The Lagos State Government on Thursday restricted access to the state secretariat through the entrance and exit gates of the Deputy Governor’s Office.
Also it barred visitors from gaining entrance to Adeyemi Bero Hall often used as a waiting room for visitors.
The gates were also shut to prevent staff and visitors from parking their vehicles.
Other gates that wereleft opened at the secretariat were manned by heavily armed security personnel, who searched suspicious vehicles and frisked pedestrians.
It was learnt that the development was the state’s response to last Friday’s bombing of the UN building in Abuja and the numerous text messages being circulation in the state on the possibility of bombing incidents in Lagos.
The workers at the secretariat, who resumed work on Thursday after the Sallah holiday, were denied entrance through the deputy governor’s gate by policemen attached to the state’s anti crime unit, Rapid Response Squad. They were led by the state’s Deputy Commissioner of Police(Operations), Mr. Tunde Sobulo, and the RRS Commander, Mr. Akeem Odumosu.
One of the workers, who had encounter with the policemen butpleaded anonymity, said, “The policemen explained to us that visitors and workers at the Lagos State Secretariat Alausa have been barred fromentering or exiting through the gate. Theysaid only the Deputy Governor Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire and her personal staff would be allowed to use the gate.”
A police officer attached to the RRS also told our correspondent that the restriction order was from the office ofthe governor.
