Security beefed up in Jos over planned attack

Security agencies in Plateau State on Sunday carried out a “show of force” while the Special Task Force (STF) carried out aerial survey with a military helicopter in apparent demonstration of their preparedness to ward off any insurgence in the state.
This may not be unconnected with renewed rumours of threats by the Boko Haram sect to strike in the state. The sect had been quoted by some online publications as threatening to carry out an attack similar to the recent one in Kano on Jos.
A combined security team of the military and the police were seen moving around major streets in a convoy backed by armed personnel carriers, yesterday.
However, security agencies in the state have advised residents not to panic but remain vigilant as necessary steps have been put in place to check any planned attack.
