Prophet TB Joshua Warns - "Another Nollywood Actor Will Soon Die"

Just some weeks ago, a prophecy made by top Nigerian prophet and head of Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet TB Joshua on the death of an African leader came to pass.

Alas! It was the President of Malawi that was the victim.

The controversial man of God at his second service on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2012 warned the movie industry to pray against the death of a male actor.

"Actors in Nollywood should pray against death of a male member of the industry," Prophet TB Joshua warned.

The Nigerian film industry witnessed a series of death last year. Ashley Nwosu, Sam Loco Efe, Geraldine Ekeocha and others all died last.

This year has already witnessed the death of David Ihieze and James Iroha popularly called Gringory.

In regards to D’banj’s claim for 100 percent ownership of all songs recorded under the Mo’Hits imprint, the acclaimed producer in an email on March 17th, states.

    “That Mo’Hits Records does not already own 100 per cent of the songs. Note that Mo’Hits Records only owns 60 per cent of the songs and 40 per cent belongs to the individual artiste. So, 40 per cent of the songs is not mine to give.” He continues, “That me (I am) giving him (D’banj) my share of the catalogue does not and will never include him having the right to stop them (the artistes)  from performing the songs or give him the right to claim any monies for live performances of these songs. And any loans or debt owed by Mo’Hits records as at today will be cleared by Mr D’banj as I am clearly not aware of any.”

Egypt beat Nigeria 3-2 in Dubai friendly

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, lost his first match as Nigeria coach after the Pharaohs of Egypt snatched a late goal to beat Eagles 3-2 in a friendly match played at El Nasri Stadium in Dubai on Thursday.

In his first five games, Keshi, won two matches against Zambia and Liberia and drew with Angola, Botswana and Rwanda. The Rwanda game was a 2013 Nations Cup qualifier played in Kigali in February.

Like in the match against Liberia, the coach kept faith in the home-based players he has been working with as goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim, Azubike Egwueke, Godfrey Oboabona, Juwon Oshaniwa, Papa Idris, Reuben Gabriel, Henry Uche, Ejike Uzoenyi, Obina Nwanchuku, Sunday Mba and Kalu Uche started against the Pharaohs.

Sunday Mba, who scored both goals against Liberia in Monrovia, put Nigeria ahead in the 15th minute to the delight of a handful Nigerians at the stadium. But Ahmed Temsah cancelled the advantage in the 25th minute with a shot that took a deflection. The north Africans went ahead to take the lead when veteran Mohammed Aboutrika scored from the spot in the 32nd minute. Kalu Uche levelled score in the 40th minute, converting with a back heel from Ejike Uzoenyi pass.

At the resumption of the second half, Aboutrika would have put the Pharaohs 3-2 up but his shot went over the target as Nigeria continued the search for more goals. Uche and Mba, who later made way for Izu Azuka late in the game, threatened the opponents’ area as the game went on but it was the Egyptians who got the third goal in injury time through Ahmed Hassan Mekky.

It was a match the home-based players gave their all and they actually deserved a result but for the superior exposure of their opponents who mounted a late challenge when it seemed both sides were content with a draw.

Former U-20 coach Tunde Disu said the result was a sign of brighter future for the Eagles.

Van Persie will go if Arsenal don’t spend –Campbell

Former Arsenal defender Sol Campbell insists that Arsene Wenger needs to spend in the summer in order to hold onto striker Robin van Persie.

The 28-year-old has been in inspired form for the Gunners this season, scoring 27 goals in 33 Premier League games and helping to propel them into third place in the Premier League table.

Yet Campbell insists that if Arsenal fail to bring in some fresh talent next season then Van Persie will be tempted to leave the club, particularly with other teams such as Manchester City poised to swoop for his signature.

“Arsenal need a few more players who want to take on the challenge, who are going to say ‘I’m going to make the difference this season’.

“If they don’t buy players he’s going to go, I think he’s going to feel there’s a lack of ambition at the club. Arsenal need a few players who can make the difference, on the field and on the bench.”

Van Persie’s contract expires at the end of the 2012-13 season with the Dutchman having placed talks over a renewal on hold until the summer.

Jonathan may sign 2012 budget today

Barring any last minute change in plan, President Goodluck Jonathan will sign the 2012 Appropriation Bill into law on Friday (today).

A Presidency source said the event, which is expected to be witnessed by principal officers of the two chambers of the National Assembly, would hold at the Presidential Villa before noon.

Jonathan had on Tuesday during the inauguration of the Almajiri Model School in Sokoto, given a hint that he would sign the bill into law before the end of the week.

The signing of the budget had been delayed due to some amendments made on the original bill by the lawmakers.

The Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, had last week told State House correspondents that the President had not signed the budget because of the need for the government to scrutinise the document.

Police arrest serial rapist in Ekiti

The men of the Ekiti State Police Command have arrested a 22-year-old Tope Jinadu, who is said to be a serial rapist and a robber.

This was contained in a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Mohammed Jimoh.

According to the statement, Jinadu has been terrorising Ado-Ekiti and its environs for sometime.

The police said the suspect was connected with some robberies and raping of some ladies.

The suspect, who is a native of Ado -Ekiti was arrested at his hideout on April 1, 2012, by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad during a raid at Ojumose area of Ado-Ekiti.

The PPRO said the suspect had been declared wanted before he was eventually arrested.

Some of the recovered items from Jinadu, according to the police include, 17 Blackberry phones, eight HP laptops, nine DVD players, three gold necklaces and an undisclosed amount of money.

Jimoh said other members of Jinadu’s gang who were at large had been declared wanted.

He said they would be caught and charge them to court when investigation was concluded.

Boko Haram threatens to ‘devour’ Jonathan

Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, has threatened that the group will “devour” President Goodluck Jonathan “in three months”.

According to Reuters, the sect’s head said in a video posted on YouTube on Thursday that the President goofed by boasting to get rid of the group in three months.

The 14-minute video showed Shekau in a white robe, with gunmen holding Kalashnikov rifles around him. A heavy machine gun leaned against a wall as he spoke first in Arabic and later in the Hausa.

Shekau said President Goodluck Jonathan would be unable to stop the group’s attacks.

He added, “Jonathan, you the helpless, we heard that you intend and want to destroy us, but this talk is useless when it is said by an infidel because only God can destroy us,” Shekau said in Arabic. “Until now, nobody was able to do that (destroy us), and you too will not be able to do anything, with God’s help.”

Shekau belittled Jonathan for saying two weeks ago that by the middle of this year the security situation would be under control.

“You, Jonathan, cannot stop us, instead we will devour you in the three months like you are boasting,” Shekau said in the video entitled ‘message to Goodluck Jonathan’.

“We are proud soldiers of Allah, we will never give up as we fight the infidels. We will emerge as winners … we will finish you and end your government.”

Shekau had issued videos via YouTube in the past, though this one included a Hausa-language song at the beginning about the sect, saying its members were ready to kill nonbelievers.
