University of Ibadan shut down for two weeks over students protest

Students of the University of Ibadan took to streets on Monday April 23rd and Tuesday April 24th, to protest the non availability of water and electrical supply in the institution, paralyzing academic activities in the university for two days. The students, during the protest, said electricity had not been stable in the school for weeks, and decided to protest after witnessing total blackout for three straight days.

The students took their protest beyond the school gates and mounted roadblocks around the UI/Ojoo road, causing serious traffic. All efforts to pacify the students failed, as they promised to continue protesting until their demands are met.

Following the two day protest, the University authority has shut down the institution for two weeks with immediate effect. Their reason for closing down the school? To abort the indefinite protest by students and to give them time to fix some of the problems the student complained about.

Teenager Dies in Enugu Over Barcelona’s Opening Goal in Chelsea Match!

A Chelsea fan slumped and died in Enugu on Tuesday [Apr. 24] during the European Champions League match between Chelsea of England and Barcelona of Spain.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) learnt that the teenage twin boy, identified as Chinedu Ibeabuchi, slumped in a football viewing centre when Barcelona scored their opening goal in the drawn semi-final match.

Chinedu, who lived with his mother and other family members on Marcus Garvey Street, New Haven, Enugu, was said to be a student of a secondary school in Enugu.

A lady who identified herself as a sister to the deceased, said the family was not willing to talk about the incident but was rather concerned with his burial arrangements.

A source close to the family told NAN on Wednesday that Chinedu was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed dead.

NAN also learnt that the body had been deposited at the Eastern Nigeria Medical Centre, Enugu.

It was gathered that the Chinedu family lost their father sometime in 2011.

The match ended 2-2 at full-time with Chelsea advancing to the final on a 3-2 aggregate.

D'Banj Finally Speaks After Break Up With Don Jazzy

On April 21, 2012, at the Choice FM studio in London, D’Banj finally decided to sit down for hisfirst interview since the Mo’Hits Crew had a major squabble.

He talks about how they got the deal with Kanye West:

‘I pulled up with my entourage at the Emirates first class lounge in Dubai. We were returning from Scott Tommey’s birthday. I came down with Bankuli, my P.A. Chuchu, and my business manager Chidi. My entourage was large and I was looking fly. One of the hostesses ran to me with a Kanye West placard. I said I’m not Kanye o – then I told my guys ‘Kanye is around so no dulling.’ Chuchu and Bankuli spotted Kanye walking in to check in. They went to him and he said we could come over’.

‘As they came, I had my iPad with me, and my headphones. First thing Kanye said was ‘I like your T-shirt’. I wore a Zara T-shirt and a D&G ring. He liked my appearance and said he’d give me 5 minutes. I told him ‘I played with you in Nigeria during NB PLC Star Megajam. I’ve done a song with Snoop and we’re going to shoot the video now. I’d like to play you my songs.’ I played Oliver, Scapegoat and Fall in love. He was dancing. He removed the headphones and said ‘I don’t mean to sound rude, but if anyone has to bring you out in the states, it has to be me, not Snoop. He asked when I was going to be in the US, and I told him I was going there that day. Then he asked who my producer was, and I said Don Jazzy. He said ‘come with him.’
