The 8th edition of Africa Movies Academy Awards was held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island yesterday in grand style. The show was hosted by Haitian-born Jimmy Jean-Louis and Nigerian actor OC Ukeje.

Film stakeholders from Africa and beyond converged for the awards.

Singers, Yinka Davids, Asa, 2Face were among other artistes that brought down the roof of the Expo Hall of Eko Hotel with their wonderful performances.

The event, which finally started by 9pm as against the 6pm scheduled time, turned out to be successful.

It was an emotional moment for sexy Nollywood actress, Rita Dominic as she clinched 2012 Africa Movies Academy Awards' (AMAA) Best actress of the year awards. Rita beat colleagues, Nse Ikpe Etim, Yvonne Okoro, Ama K. Abebrese and Millicent Makheido to win the coveted prize.
