Taribo West
Former Nigeria defender, Taribo West, slammed West Brom forward, Osaze Odemwingie, for his comments on the state of the country’s ex-internationals, saying the player should focus on his career rather than using social network site, Twitter, to ‘abuse’ his elders.
Osaze twitted that football administrators had failed to “treat former internationals right” citing late striker Rashidi Yekini, Femi Opabunmi and Taribo as examples.
“Yekini, (may his soul RIP) our legend died in poverty…Femi Opabunmi lost his sight and struggling to feed now…T. West I heard not so comfortable and few others,” Osaze twitted.

Oscar Pistorius and his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp pose for a picture in Johannesburg

Oscar Pistorius said he had no intention of killing his girlfriend and loved her deeply according to an affidavit read out in court by his lawyer.
Earlier in the hearing, prosecutors claimed Pistorius got up from bed, put on his prosthetic legs and walked seven metres before shooting Reeva Steenkamp through a closed bathroom door.
Prosecutor Gerrie Nel said the details showed it was a premeditated murder, adding there was “a motive to kill”.
But in a statement detailing his version of events, Pistorius said he woke up in pitch darkness to a sound in the bathroom believing an intruder had climbed through the window. He described his sense of terror.
The 26-year-old didn’t realise Ms Steenkamp wasn’t in bed and shot at the door on his stumps, feeling vulnerable without his prosthetics.

Kardashian’s ‘flash’ visit to Nigeria

*Kim in Lagos

Reality TV show star Kim Kardashian is presently being criticised left, right and centre for her ‘flash’ visit to Nigeria after being reportedly paid 500,000 dollars.
Kim had been invited to co-host the highly publicised Valentine show ‘Love like a movie’ by R&B king Darey Art Alade at the convention centre of Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos but Kim after some minutes on the red carpet and then the pre-event dinner with several high rated guests, reportedly appeared only for 45 seconds to speak to the cheering crowd before disappearing!
She practically slurred ”Hey Naiiija” and vamoosed!

Tickets for the show had gone for N100, 000 with more than half of the guests buying because they wanted to enjoy an evening with Kim. They did enjoy it eventually… in a snap!

The media particularly is wagging but Kim seem oblivious to the criticisms. She was later pictured arriving in Los Angeles, looking tired in a white shirt and black trousers. Her smile for the cameras, could only mean she’s happy to be home.
Kim is pregnant for boyfriend/ rapper Kanye West with her family reality show Keeping up with the Kardashians rated as one of E!’s most viewed programme,  raking in about six million viewers in it’s sixth season.
Shortly after arriving, the 32-year-old tweeted: ‘Just landed back home! 20 hrs of flying. No big deal.’

We’ll work with Obasanjo faction – Ogun PDP

Olusegun Obasanjo

The Obasanjo loyalists were last Friday removed as the leaders of the PDP in the state by the party’s National Working Committee.
The PDP NWC had sacked the Obasanjo-backed executive of the party in Ogun State led by Senator Oladipo Odujinrin.
The Ogun PDP leaders however denied fighting a personal battle with Obasanjo, describing the former president as a father to all members of the party in the state.
Financier of the group, Mr. Buruji Kashamu, said this at a meeting of the party members held to review the recent decisions of the NWC in Ijebu-Igbo on Sunday.
Kashamu regretted what he called the use of the name of the former President by those he described as unscrupulous politicians in the state to commit atrocities and illegalities.
This, he said, had resulted in Obasanjo being misunderstood and his role being misconstrued, thus giving room for the wrong impression held by many about the former president.

Budget: Reps accuse FG of blackmailing N’Assembly

David Mark and Aminu Tambuwal

It also observed that rather than advising President Goodluck Jonathan to sign the 2013 Appropriation Bill into law, his advisers were keen on blackmailing the legislature.
The National Assembly sent the details of the N4.9trillion budget to  Jonathan on January 14.
The House picked holes in the claim on Sunday by the Chief Economic Adviser to the President, Dr. Nwanze Okidegbe, who said that government might have challenges paying salaries of workers this year due to a slash in personnel proposals by the National Assembly.

Admitting that he had yet to read the book, Ribadu also stated that el-Rufai did not tell him he was writing a book and never interviewed him about what he wanted to write.
He said, “So, I am quite surprised on how you can quote a person that you have not interviewed. I think the ethics of writing is that you quote somebody with authority and that you can stand by that.
