Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (arrowed) flanked by supporters, after he regained his freedom at the Appeal Court, in Lagos... on Friday. Right is the Late Kudirat Abiola.

First child of the late Kudirat Abiola, Lekan Abiola, has expressed disappointment over Friday’s Appeal Court judgment, which upturned the death sentence earlier passed on Major Hamza Al-Mustapha and Lateef Shofolahan, who were accused of masterminding the killing of his mother.
The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos had earlier on Friday discharged and acquitted the former Chief Security Officer to the late Gen. Sani Abacha (Al-Mustapha) and Shofolahan, an ex-aide to the late Kudirat.
The appellate court had dismissed the judgment of Justice Mojisola Dada of the Lagos High Court, which sentenced both men to death by hanging, after accusing the judge of being “stroked to secure a conviction by all means.”
But the younger Abiola told Saturday PUNCH on Friday that he was “disappointed, but not particularly surprised by the judgement.”

FIFA says it is interested in the scandalous results from  the games involving  two Nigerian  amateur league clubs– Plateau United Feeders and Police Machine – on Monday.
The two matches produce an incredible 146 goals.
Plateau United Feeders crushed Akurba 79-0 while Police Machine demolished Babayaro 67-0 in the fifth tier  promotion playoffs. Plateau United Feeders scored 72 goals in the second half while Police Machine netted 61 after the break.
The two teams vying for a single promotion spot had gone into the final round-robin matches equal on points and goal difference.
The scores were the biggest seen in African football since Madagascar’s AS Adema won 149-0 in a 2002 match where losing side Stade Olympique l’Emyrne scored numerous own goals in protest at a refereeing decision.

Soyinka, an embarrassment –Patience Jonathan •Amaechi behind Rivers crisis –FG

Mrs. Patience Jonathan

Wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, on Friday took on the Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, for attributing the crisis in the Rivers State House of Assembly to her.
In a statement by her spokesman, Ayo Osinlu, the President’s wife said Soyinka betrayed the moral duty that expected him, as a respected member of the society, to carefully consider all shades of issues that informed his opinions on any matter.
Mrs. Jonathan said Soyinka had become an embarrassment to his admirers with his diatribe against her.
The statement read in part, “Unfortunately, Soyinka betrayed moral duty in his recent diatribe against Mrs. Patience Jonathan.
“Of course, this would not be the first time he would reach out against the First Lady, usually from self-righteously indignant lecterns.

Untold Story of Why Al Mustapha Visited TB Joshua Immediately After Release [+PHOTO]

Al-Mustapha was released yesterday Friday July 12th after many years in prison, and his first port of call after his release was T.B Joshua's place.

T.B Joshua explains why Al-Mustapha visited him first:

"I got to know him many years ago when a petition was addressed to General Bamaiyi who was the then Chairman of the NDLEA. As you know, several efforts had been made by my detractors to bring me and my ministry down. One of those efforts was that petition. I was arrested for investigation and it was later discovered that it was a tissue of lies. I spent nine days with them for investigation and they found the whole thing to be a fabrication. From there, I was taken to Aso Rock (City of Power) to see the president. It was there that I met Mustapha."

"I was able to reveal to them who I am by telling them what was to come as a prophet. One of those things I mentioned to them and to Mustapha in particular, was what he went through, though he did not believe me then. That was why when it came to pass, I was the first person he remembered. I told him that he would spend several years in prison and would be finally released which no one else had ever told him.

That is why you see him coming here as his first port of call. Where there is no vision, people perish.

I am surprised you are asking me why he is coming here first. When you look into your archives  as journalists, you will find many stories in the past about my visit to Aso Rock, (City of Power) while Bamaiyi was Chairman of NDLEA. Many magazines and newspapers published my visions and prophecies on the government and the presidency.

When you know your picture of tomorrow, it will impart a strength to endure your present difficulty. When you know what you are passing through now will not last long, you will endure it. This is vision; this is prophecy. This can only come by revelation. This is what the Bible means by, “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). I will leave you here."

Rivers crisis: I am ready to pay the ultimate price – Amaechi

Governor Rotimi Amaechi and President Goodluck...can't settle a brotherly conflict? Jonathan...locked in a battle of grits

By Aniete Ukoh, (Port-Harcourt), Bello Saka (Minna)
Embattled Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State declared yesterday, in Port Harcourt, that he is ready to pay the price for his belief in democracy and stand in the current crisis in the state.
This was happening as President Goodluck Jonathan, on a state visit to China,  denied any involvement in the crisis, while the President’s man-Friday, Nyesom Wike was also busy denying his role in the confusion but Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State believed that the Presidency is awash with money to engage in fight against states.
Amaechi’s position, which is his first official reaction to the Wednesday’s withdrawal of soldiers from Government House, Port Harcourt, was revealed through his Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari.
“Naturally, the governor is worried that his security has been withdrawn. But like he has said in the past, he is willing to pay the price for democracy. If that is the case, so be it,” the commissioner said.
The governor, however, regretted that only a handful of policemen and men of the State Security Service (SSS) were left with him and feared that he could not say, for sure, what could happen next, given the speed at which events were unfolding in the state.
Amaechi said “the security development in the state is most worrisome at this critical time given the alleged report in some quarters that ex-militants who were hitherto driven out of circulation are now said to have fully returned and may go back to the trenches.”

Court rejects EFCC’s bid to seize Sylva’s properties

The court held that the request amounted to an abuse of court process as the former governor was being prosecuted over a related charge in a sister   court.
In December 2012, the EFCC had, through an ex parte motion, applied for a temporary order of forfeiture of the 48 property.
The court, presided over by Justice A. R. Mohammed, granted the EFCC leave to sustain the action but also ordered the anti-graft agency to put Sylva on notice.
After listening to the submissions of EFCC counsel, John Anaeto, and Sylva’s lawyer, Benson Ibezim, the court reserved its decision till Thursday, July 11, 2013.
Justice Mohammed held that it was an abuse of the court process for the EFCC to bring an action before him which is related to a charge before a sister court for which Sylva is currently standing trial.
He therefore refused to extend the temporary order granted the EFCC to seize the 48 property.

Control Your Wife, Soyinka Warns Jonathan - Nobel Laurette warns Ignoble "Laura"

Speaking at a press conference he addressed in Lagos on Thursday alongside Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), Soyinka also fingered the president as “vicariously liable” should Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi die in the aftermath of the crisis currently engulfing the Rivers State House of Assembly.
“The perception out there in the world is that he (Jonathan) bears a vicarious liability with what is happening in Rivers State,” Soyinka said. “My colleague was with the governor during what amounted to a siege. Anyone who said teargas was not thrown into the premises [of the Governor’s Lodge] is either ignorant or is lying,” he said.
On Patience Jonathan, he said: “Mrs. Jonathan cannot be a First Lady without first learning to be a lady. She is getting away with murder because she has the backing of her husband.

Taribo begs Keshi to recall Yobo

Yobo

A former Super Eagles defender Taribo West has pleaded with Stephen Keshi to recall team captain Joseph Yobo as Nigeria prepare for their last Group F World Cup qualifying match against the Flames of Malawi.
Yobo, who was a key player for Fenerbahce in last season’s campaign in Turkey, last played for Nigeria at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa where he featured as a substitute in most of the games. He has since been left out of the team as Nigeria played all their matches in the qualifying rounds for Brazil 2014.
The former Everton defender recently lashed out at Keshi for leaving him out of the team while the coach has insisted that Yobo remains the team captain. But Taribo is not convinced that Keshi has Yobo in his plans, a situation, he said cost Nigeria an impressive outing at the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil.

Obafemi Janet Oluwafunmilayo (1956 - 2012)

It's now exactly 8 months that you left this sinful world, we continue to console ourselves with the wonderful memories of you that we have, with confidence in the fact that you are already resting in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ordinarily in posts like this, things like 'miss you' and the likes seem to always re-occur especially past tenses but I wouldn't want to say I missed you because I didn't. For me and 'us', would prefer to use the words actively missing you, because that's the fact and it's continuous.
Continue to rest on till we meet to part no more, requiescat in pace ma.

Romans 8 vs 38 - 39: For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, or depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Nigerian clubs to be investigated for match-fixing after 79-0, 67-0 results

football-generic[1]
Four Nigerian football clubs have been suspended ahead of an investigation into match-fixing after a race for promotion led to a pair of ridiculous final-day scorelines.
Plateau United Feeders and Police Machine, two amateur sides chasing one spot in Nigeria’s Nationwide League Division 3 – the bottom tier of Nigeria’s professional leagues – needed to out-score the other to ensure they would be the ones turning pro.
However, the Nigerian FA quite understandably grew suspicious of Plateau’s 79-0 win over Akurba FC and Machine’s 67-0 thumping of Babayaro FC.
Making matters fishier, Plateau-Akurba were reportedly 7-0 at half-time while Machine-Babayaro were 6-0 at the interval.

Why Boko Haram opted to cease fire – FG

boko-haram
Amidst doubts as to whether the purported ceasefire declared by the Boko Haram insurgents would hold, the Federal Government on Wednesday disclosed why the Islamic sect opted for cessation of hostilities.
Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges in the North and Minister of Special Duties, Alhaji Tanimu Turaki revealed to State House correspondents in Abuja that the group took the decision following their conclusion that the Federal Government was sincere in the search for dialogue.
Confident that Boko Haram would not go back on their directive to members to cease fire which he said was captured on tape, he said they took government’s sincerity into consideration as well as having convinced themselves that they were not being lured into a trap by the committee.
According to him, “basically, they took into account, one; the sincerity of the committee which by necessary implication also, the sincerity of the President (Goodluck Jonathan) regarding resolving the issue of insecurity in the North.

Oritsejafor dismisses FG, Boko Haram ceasefire deal

Pastor-Ayo-Oritsejafor
The Christian Association of Nigeria President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, on Wednesday dismissed the ceasefire deal between the Federal Government and the Boko Haram leadership.
Oritsejafor, who spoke on the sidelines of the ninth National Assembly of CAN,  noted that Boko Haram leadership could not be taken seriously because the group had been factionalised.
The Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Secruity Challenges in the North, Mr. Kabiru Turaki (SAN), had on Monday announced the ceasefire deal.
However, responding to reporters’ questions on Wednesday, the CAN President said, “Which Boko Haram? There have been all manner of people that claim to be Boko Haram. Now there are two groups, the Shekau group and Ansaru group, have you heard from them?
“Even if one person says, I want peace, I drop my weapons, we will be happy, but I still ask: which Boko Haram because we have seen situations in the past where they told us that some people wanted truce and the next day we saw people being killed.”
Oritsejafor, who urged religious fundamentalists to be cautions, also promised to use the fresh mandate given to him by the Christian union to pursue peace in the country.

Benefits of drinking warm lemon water every morning

Lemon-drinks water
Drinking warm lemon water in the morning helps kick start the digestion process for the day. Experts say the choices that you make regarding your daily routine either build up resistance to disease or tear it down.
There are many health benefits of lemons that have been known for centuries. The two biggest are lemons’ strong anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and immune-boosting powers and their use as a weight loss aid because lemon juice is a digestive aid and liver cleanser. Lemons contain many substances — notably citric acid, calcium, magnesium, vitamin C, bioflavonoids, pectin, and limonene — that promote immunity and fight infection.
How to do it: Use purified water that should be lukewarm, not scalding hot. Avoid ice cold water, since that can be a lot for your body to process and it takes more energy to process ice cold water than the warm. Always use fresh lemons, never bottled lemon juice. Squeeze 1/2 a lemon into a cup and drink it down first thing before you eat a single thing, or workout, etc.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education, Uche Chukwumerije who chaired the joint sitting asked the unions to end this impasse which has grounded tertiary institutions across the country.
The President of ASUP, Chibuzor Asomugha said that the polytechnic lecturers would do all within their powers to call off the strike as soon as possible.
He said: “Our meeting with the Senate Committee on Education was successful. There was an agreement to meet our demands in the next two weeks as the request will be presented to President Goodluck Jonathan for his approval.”

I Can Now Walk Around And Do Things On My Own Without Support, Says Suntai

danbaba-suntai
The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to ailing Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State, Silvanus Giwa, yesterday dispelled rumours that his boss had gone blind as a result of injuries sustained in a self-piloted aircraft last year warning those peddling the story to desist forthwith.
Giwa said such unfounded rumour is capable of creating confusion in the minds of the people and urged Tarabans to ignore it.
“When our governor called me last Sunday during his 52 years birthday anniversary, he asked me to tell Tarabans that God has really answered their collective prayers. He said I should tell them that he has fully recovered and that he can now walk round and do certain things on his own without the support of anybody”, he said.

It all started at the commissioning of Afe Babalola & Co Head Office extension, opposite Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

Outrage over Rivers Assembly fracas

Atiku Abubakar
Prominent Nigerians and groups on Tuesday condemned the fracas in the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Groups and individuals, who condemned the brawl included former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Senator Wilson Ake, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN)  and the Congress for Progressive Change.
The CPC blamed President Goodluck Jonathan for the fracas.
The party’s spokesman, Mr. Rotimi Fashakin, in a telephone interview with one of our correspondents, described happenings in the state as Jonathan’s brand of democracy.
Fashakin said the attempt by five lawmakers, who were opposed to the state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, to impeach principal officers of the House,  was reckless.
He wondered how five members could attempt to impose their views on the 27 others.

A 35-year-old woman, identified as Ejobosele Okoruwa. has committed suicide in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government, Edo State, few hours after dedicating her three months old baby in a church.
Ejobosele dedicated her baby on Sunday, while she killed herself in the early hours of Monday.
Her lifeless body was found dangling from the ceiling with the wrapper she allegedly used to hang herself.

The President came on Friday. That was 28th June, 2013.  We were at the airport to receive him. The governor was in Lagos with his APC (All Peoples Congress) friends. They were at Fashola’s (Lagos State governor) birthday. He did not come to receive the President. The deputy governor came. When the deputy governor came, he saw the crowd that came to receive the President. He must have reported to the governor and said, “You can’t allow this.” So on 29th June, Saturday, the governor came. He saw us. The first thing he did was to call the chief detail to Mr. President. He said if these people did not come out of this place, he would not come and receive Mr. President. Who were the people he was talking about? He did not want to see the state party (the Peoples Democratic Party) officials. Mr. President alighted from a helicopter. We all went to receive him.

goodluck Ibikunle Amosun
The Action Congress of Nigeria has described as untrue the claim by the Peoples Democratic Party that the ACN governors in the South-West shunned last week’s commencement of the reconstruction of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway by President Goodluck Jonathan.
In a statement in Abuja on Monday, the ACN  National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said only the Governors of Lagos, Oyo and Ogun were invited to the ceremony, hence it was inaccurate to give the impression that all the ACN governors in the South-West were expected to be there.
It said while Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun personally attended the ceremony, the governors of Lagos and Oyo sent their deputies to represent them because both of them were out of the country at the time.

80% African offenders in China are Nigerians –Envoy

jonathan goodluck
The Nigerian Ambassador to China, Aminu Wali, on Monday said Nigerians were responsible for about 80 per cent of the offences committed by Africans in China.
Over 400 Nigerians, he added, were serving various jail terms in China for drug-related offences.
Wali stated this in Beijing ahead of President Goodluck Jonathan’s state visit to China.
He said, “We certainly have big issue with drug-related crimes committed by Nigerians in China and when you look at the whole of Africa, you find out that about 80 per cent of all the offences and crimes committed by Africans in China is committed by Nigerians.
“That is why I think we are having a running battle to try and control the situation. However, we need assistance from back home; from the security agencies manning our exits and entry points in Nigeria to be more alert and vigilant to make sure these individuals do not escape through our routes to come into, not only to China but also any other country.
