Dantong a sacrificial lamb – Mark

Senate President, Senator David Mark, on Tuesday said that Senator Gyang Dantong who was killed on Sunday has become a sacrificial lamb that should bring lasting peace to Plateau State.
Mark stated this in a chat with journalists in Abuja after the Senate adjourned plenary in honour of the late lawmaker.
He noted that the death of Dantong would be in vain if the mindless killings in many parts of northern Nigeria continue.
He said, “Dantong has become a sacrificial lamb, his death will be in vain if we continue with this madness beyond this point.”
He renewed his call for dialogue saying “we should never get tired of preaching that there should be dialogue because that’s the only solution.
“Once there is a dialogue and people are able to speak out their minds and it is resolved and decisions taken then it will be a lasting solution,” Mark insisted.
Mark, who signed a condolence register opened in honour of the deceased in the National Assembly, wrote: “May your death brings peace and unity to Plateau State in particular and Nigeria in general. You did so much to ensure peace. Rest in peace with the Lord.”
On plans to immortalize the deceased, Mark noted that Dantong was a very prominent member of the Senate who contributed so much.
He said the Senate committee on immortalization of Senators would take the right decision on Dantong.
