The Super Eagles of Nigeria remained static in the latest FIFA rankings published yesterday in Zurich, Switzerland.
The African champions remained the 30 best national football in the
world but fourth in Africa behind Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Mali.
Although the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire who were eliminated in the
quarter final stage of the last Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa
lost one place, the Didier Drogba-led team remains Africa’s highest
ranked team 13th in the world from their previous 12th position.
The Black Stars of Ghana also slipped one place down from 19 to 20th in the world but remain Africa’s second best national team.
AFCON semi-finalists, Mali are placed third in Africa but gained one step to the 24th as against the previous 25.
Spain remains the number one football team in the world while Germany, Argentina, England and Italy complete the top five teams.
