This was made known in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Lukman Agboluaje, and made available to newsmen on Sunday. In the statement, the PDP decried the non-release of the buses for the use of the masses in the state, more than eight months after the state government took delivery of the buses.
The release added that, rather than the state government deploying the buses to ease the transportation problems of the people of the state, the government re-painted the buses and replaced the “Federal Government Assisted Mass Transit” inscription on the buses with “Ajumose Pace-Setter Mass Transit Service.” The party condemned the decision of the state government, saying it was done with the “sinister intention of claiming the Federal Government product as its own initiative and consequently illicitly attempting to claim its glory.”
It will be recalled that the Federal Government had procured and distributed over 1,600 buses to state governments to cushion the effects of the removal of subsidy from petrol in 2012, out of which about 100 were given to Oyo State.
