Keshi drops Enyeama for Bafana clash

Enyeama
Super Eagles’ first choice goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama was a surprise omission from the 20-man list Coach Stephen Keshi released for the Nelson Mandela Challenge match against Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Wednesday.
Keshi left out the team’s stand-in captain, who has manned the goal for the team since the Nations Cup. No clear reasons could be adduced for this development as Enyeama has always been spectacular for the team.
No replacement was named for the Maccabi Tel Aviv of Israel safe hands as only his assistants Austin Ejide and Chigozie Agbim made the list.
Meanwhile, Spartak Moscow striker Emmanuel Emenike has made his return to the team for the match slated for Durban on August 14.
The coach had earlier hinted at Emenikean’s return in a chat with MTNfootball.com when he revealed that he would be fielding largely his 2013 AFCON winning team. With Emenike’s injury already healed, there was no reason to doubt his inclusion.

“I have retained the bulk of my Super Eagles squad to the Nations Cup. I think it’s time to focus on my main team now since I already have a picture of what my team should be. I also think they need time together for better team chemistry and understanding,” Keshi said.
Also making a return is Newcastle United’s Shola Ameobi, who had indicated his interest in returning to the squad last week. Chelsea’s Victor Moses also returns after injury ruled him out for a while. But the biggest comeback is by Locomotiv Moscow’s Victor Obinna Nsofor, who has been out of the team since 2011.
Former junior international forward Uche Nwofor of VVV Venlo in the Netherlands, was a surprise invitee on the list that was dominated by the squad that represented Nigeria at last month’s FIFA Confederations Cup tournament in Brazil.
Also on the list are defenders Kenneth Omeruo, Efe Ambrose, Godfrey Oboabona, Azubuike Egwuekwe and Elderson Echiejile.
The midfielders are Mikel Obi, Fegor Ogude, John Ogu, Ogenyi Onazi, Nnamdi Oduamadi and Sunday Mba while the striking department has Ahmed Musa and Brown Ideye.
