Ajimobi sacks commissioners, advisers

Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi
Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi on Monday dissolved the state executive council.
The action, he said, was taken to enable him to inject “fresh blood into the administration of the state.”
In a statement signed by the state’s Director of Cabinet, Mr. Dotun Omokemi, the decision was made after the executive council meeting, which lasted for just 11 minutes on Monday.
The statement, credited to the governor read, “There was the need to inject fresh blood into the administration, in the quest to serve the state better.”
Ajimobi thanked the commissioners and special advisers who made up the executive council, for their contributions, instructing them to hand over to the permanent secretaries in their various ministries.

There have been speculations over possible change of cabinet by the governor in the past few weeks. A source from the government house said the governor expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of some of the commissioners and special advisers.
Ajimobi headed straight to the airport to receive Vice President Nnamadi Sambo, who was in Ibadan to pay condolence visit to the family of the late former Ondo State Governor Olusegun Agagu who died recently after announcing the sack of the council’s members. Ajimobi later told journalists that the action was a routine exercise meant to refresh the administration.
He said, “We have worked for two years and we have functioned very well together. It is a normal process in government, it’s a time to review and those that are worthy of being reappointed will be considered while fresh blood will also be injected.” He added that new commissioners and advisers would be announced soon.
