Omeruo to make Boro debut Saturday

Kenneth Omeruo

Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo is set to make his debut at Blackpool on Saturday after finalising his loan switch from Chelsea to Middlesbrough, GazetteLive reports.
The 20-year-old defender, who trained with the first team squad at Rockliffe Park yesterday, has yet to play a senior game of football this season.
He has appeared for Chelsea’s development side in the FA Under-21 Premier League and is highly rated by the club’s coaching staff.
Omeruo has got first team experience to fall back on.
He spent more than a year with Dutch top flight side Den Haag, playing regularly for the club during a loan stay that started in March 2012 and ended in May last year.
Den Haag wanted Omeruo to stay on for another season but Chelsea decided to retain his services.
It’s believed Boro had the opportunity to sign him during the summer window but Tony Mowbray was looking at more experienced options at the time.
Aitor Karanka told the Gazette after Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Hull City that Omeruo can play at centre-back and right-back.
With Jonathan Woodgate and Dani Ayala set to be fit for the trip to Bloomfield Road, the young Nigerian, who will be eligible for the play-offs if Boro finish in the top six, could be used as a full-back.
